Human resource directly affects the economy. Keeping the resource active and healthy
equates good governance. This is why a mammoth amount of our taxes is devoted
by the government to health care services. However, it is not enough. The
allotment makes it an integral part of actual need and cost. It cannot cover
the entire hospital bill once a worker becomes part of the patient list. This
fact coerced the health care industry to improvise the commercial aspect of
things. It started the HMO outsourcing Philippines business model which the US federal government imposed on the
private firms to get insurances from for their workforce.
This initiative was later further improved. After the
initial launch, they found more loopholes and hence more guidelines were formed
for the people’s right to health plan coverage. Health Maintenance
Organizations (HMO) and Health Care Companies increased in the United States in
1977. Other countries followed the path.
HMO covers medical care provided by doctors and other health
professionals who signed the contract and agreed to treat patients. This is to
cater to the accredited HMO’s guidelines and restrictions. This exchange deal
meant there was a steady stream of customers for both the medical practitioners
and HMOs, regarded as a winsome business strategy. HMOs cover most aspects of
medical treatment from emergency to disease treatment.
With the population growing older and veering towards the
aging population, globalization and the growth of new medicine, vaccines, and
pathogens; the demand for health care coverage has risen dramatically, wherein
one plan ensures multiple beneficiaries. Proper data management helps keep
track of a comprehensive list of services, entitlements, cost, both old and new medical affiliates,
also client information are all updated by HMOs and health care companies.
HMO in the Philippines provides a much-desired employment
benefit that lures targeted professionals to join companies. Plan benefits such
as emergency, dental and in or outpatient care are covered by plan holders
monthly which is either taken out of their salary or covered fully by the
company. There is tight competition in this subsector as well. These
companies are on the look-out for more leads. Pursuing prospects require a lot
of time and cost. A lot of manpower is required to secure continuity in
acquiring customers who are medically-insured both on the individual level and
the corporate scale level.
